Community Guidelines & Code of Conduct

Last updated: 15/10/25

Welcome to No Mum Is An Island — a community that believes calm is contagious, compassion is strength, and every family deserves to feel seen, safe, and supported.

These guidelines exist to keep our digital spaces kind, safe, and trauma-informed for everyone — parents, teens, and facilitators alike.

By participating in our programs, live calls, or group discussions, you agree to uphold these shared standards.

1. Our Shared Values

This community is built on four principles that guide everything we do:

Respect

We speak to one another with kindness and curiosity — even when we disagree.

Everyone’s journey is different; comparison, judgment, or unsolicited advice have no place here.

Confidentiality

What’s shared in our groups stays in our groups.
We do not screenshot, forward, or repeat others’ stories outside the space without explicit consent.
You may share your own learning publicly — not someone else’s.

Responsibility

We take ownership of our energy and words.
We don’t diagnose, fix, or label others.
We pause before posting and aim to respond, not react.

Safety

We prioritise emotional and psychological safety at all times.
If content, comments, or behaviour feel uncomfortable or unsafe, contact [email protected] immediately.

2. Community Spaces Covered

These guidelines apply across all No Mum Is An Island and . Resilient RebelsThe Compass Project platforms, including:

  • Kajabi course discussions and comment sections
  • Live group Zoom sessions and workshops
  • WhatsApp or community groups (if applicable)
  • Email interactions and support channels

3. What’s Welcome Here

✅ Honest sharing about parenting, learning, and personal growth
✅ Respectful disagreement with a tone of curiosity
✅ Supportive encouragement of others’ efforts and insights
✅ Asking for help, sharing wins, or discussing challenges
✅ Maintaining healthy, compassionate boundaries

4. What’s Not Welcome Here

❌ Hate speech, discrimination, or personal attacks of any kind
❌ Explicit, offensive, or unsafe content (including self-harm or violence)
❌ Diagnosing, “fixing,” or giving medical/psychological advice to others
❌ Promoting outside products, services, or social media links without permission
❌ Recording, screenshotting, or redistributing community discussions

Any violation of these rules may result in removal from the group or program at the facilitator’s discretion.

5. Safeguarding and Duty of Care

We take safeguarding seriously.
Our community is designed for parents and, in some cases, for teens with parental supervision.

All facilitators and support staff adhere to the UK Online Safety Act 2023 principles of transparency, accountability, and user protection.

If a member expresses distress, harm, or unsafe circumstances, we may reach out privately and — if necessary — refer them to professional or emergency support.

In an emergency:

  • UK: Call 999 or Samaritans (116 123)
  • Spain: Call 112 or Fundación ANAR (900 202 010)

6. Privacy and Data Protection

Please avoid sharing personal identifying information (like your address, school name, or your child’s details) in group spaces.
All personal data shared with us is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and GDPR obligations.

7. Inclusivity Commitment

Our community welcomes parents and teens of all backgrounds, neurotypes, and family structures.
We are actively anti-shame, anti-racism, anti-ableism, and anti-bullying.
Language that excludes or marginalises others will not be tolerated.

8. Participation and Presence

You are never required to share more than feels comfortable.
Silent participation (“listening in”) is still valid.
When engaging in group calls, please:

  • Keep cameras on if possible (optional for teens)
  • Use first names only
  • Speak from your own experience (“I” statements)
  • Mute yourself when not speaking to support focus

9. Reporting Concerns

If you ever feel unsafe, experience harassment, or witness a breach of these guidelines, please contact our safeguarding lead directly:

[email protected]
All reports are handled confidentially and with care.

10. Final Word

This community is built on trust and the shared belief that calm starts with one person — and ripples outward.

Thank you for showing up with openness, honesty, and heart.
Together, we’re creating spaces where parents and teens can grow, repair, and reconnect — safely and authentically.

🛡️ Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy

Last updated: 15/10/25

1. Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to ensure that No Mum Is An Island and its programs — including The Compass Project, Resilient Rebels, and The Calm Cycle Workshop — provide a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for parents, teens, and facilitators.

We are committed to protecting the welfare of all participants, particularly minors (aged 11–16), and ensuring that any safeguarding concerns are identified, responded to, and escalated appropriately.

2. Scope

This policy applies to:

  • All participants (parents, guardians, and young people aged 11–16)
  • All facilitators, assistants, contractors, and partners
  • All platforms (Kajabi, Zoom, WhatsApp, email communication, and associated social media groups)

3. Our Safeguarding Commitment

We believe every young person has the right to feel safe, respected, and heard, regardless of background, neurotype, ability, or family structure.

Our safeguarding principles are:

  1. Prevention: Create a culture of openness, trust, and awareness.
  2. Protection: Ensure all participants know how to access support and report concerns.
  3. Action: Respond promptly, calmly, and appropriately to any safeguarding or welfare concerns.

4. Safeguarding Lead and Contact

Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL):
Jade Gooding

[email protected]

If the DSL is unavailable, safeguarding concerns may be directed to a nominated deputy or external safeguarding authority (see Section 9).

5. Definitions

Safeguarding: Taking proactive steps to promote welfare and prevent harm.
Child protection: Responding when there is a reasonable concern that a child may be at risk of harm or abuse.
Child: Anyone under the age of 18.

6. Recognising Signs of Harm or Abuse

We recognise four main categories of abuse (as defined by UK statutory guidance):

  • Physical abuse – causing physical harm.
  • Emotional abuse – persistent emotional maltreatment, humiliation, or threats.
  • Sexual abuse – forcing or enticing a child to participate in sexual activity.
  • Neglect – persistent failure to meet a child’s basic physical and emotional needs.

Other concerns may include online harm, bullying, exploitation, or exposure to inappropriate content.

7. Code of Conduct for Staff and Facilitators

All team members, assistants, or collaborators must:

  • Treat all participants with dignity and respect.
  • Maintain professional boundaries at all times.
  • Never initiate private contact with a child (outside authorised communication channels).
  • Avoid giving personal contact details or arranging one-to-one in-person meetings.
  • Use only approved communication tools (Kajabi, Zoom, official email).
  • Immediately report any safeguarding concerns to the DSL.

All facilitators are required to have:

  • A valid enhanced DBS check (if based in the UK).
  • Completion of a safeguarding awareness course (Level 1 minimum).

8. Parental Involvement and Consent

Parental consent is required for all teen participation in The Compass Project, Resilient Rebels, or related activities.
Parents/guardians must:

  • Review all program materials and digital participation guidelines.
  • Supervise their child’s online participation when appropriate.
  • Contact the DSL if they become aware of any distress, harm, or inappropriate content.

No direct marketing or one-to-one communication is sent to minors without explicit parental consent.

9. Responding to Concerns or Disclosures

If a safeguarding concern arises or a participant discloses harm:

a. Listen calmly.
Do not promise confidentiality. Thank them for speaking up.

b. Record facts.
Note what was said, the date, time, and context — in the person’s own words.

c. Report immediately.
Notify the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) as soon as possible via [Safeguarding Email].

d. Escalation (if required):
If a child is at immediate risk of harm, contact the relevant emergency service:

  • UK: Police (999) or NSPCC (0808 800 5000)
  • Spain: Policía Nacional (091) or Emergencias (112)

The DSL will assess the concern and, if necessary, contact statutory agencies such as Children’s Social Care.

10. Online Safety

We comply with the UK Online Safety Act 2023 and follow best practice for protecting minors in digital learning environments:

  • Zoom sessions use waiting rooms, no public sharing of links, and recording consent protocols.
  • Kajabi comments are moderated for safety.
  • No screenshots, private DMs, or external messaging between teens and facilitators.
  • Parents are encouraged to discuss online safety regularly with their child.

11. Data Protection and Confidentiality

All safeguarding records are stored securely and in accordance with UK and EU GDPR.
Only authorised personnel have access to these records.

Information will be shared only if it is necessary to protect a participant from harm, and only with appropriate authorities.

All staff and collaborators receive regular safeguarding training.

This policy is reviewed annually, or sooner if legislation or best practice changes.
