Discover the Power of Tapping: A Practical Guide for Busy Mums

As mothers, we often find ourselves juggling countless responsibilities, from managing household chores to caring for our children and balancing work. This whirlwind of activities can leave us feeling overwhelmed, stressed, and disconnected from our own needs. If you’re searching for a simple yet effective way to navigate these daily challenges, Tapping, also known as Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), might be the perfect solution for you, its something I often use in the mornings after I brush my teeth as a sort of psychological pick me up.

What is Tapping (EFT)?

Tapping is a holistic healing technique that combines the principles of ancient Chinese acupressure with modern psychology. By gently tapping on specific meridian points on your body while focusing on negative emotions or physical sensations, you can help release stress and restore balance. Think of it as a form of emotional acupuncture, but without the needles.

Why is Tapping Beneficial for Mums?

1. Reduces Stress and Anxiety

Tapping can significantly lower cortisol levels, which helps reduce feelings of stress and anxiety. For busy mums, this means having a tool that can help you stay calm and composed, even during the most hectic days.

2. Improves Emotional Well-being

Regularly practicing Tapping can help you process and release negative emotions such as frustration, guilt, or sadness, leading to improved emotional well-being and a more positive outlook.

3. Enhances Self-Care

As mothers, it’s crucial to take time for self-care, and Tapping offers a quick and easy way to focus on your emotional needs. Even a few minutes of Tapping each day can help you feel more balanced and in control.

4. Boosts Confidence and Motivation

By addressing limiting beliefs and emotional blocks, Tapping can help boost your confidence and motivation, making it easier to pursue your goals and manage your responsibilities with a positive mindset.

How to Practice Tapping (EFT)

Getting started with Tapping is simple and can be done anywhere, anytime. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you incorporate Tapping into your daily routine:

1. Identify the Issue

First, identify the specific issue or emotion you want to address. This could be anything from feeling overwhelmed by your to-do list to dealing with a difficult interaction with your child.

2. Rate the Intensity

Rate the intensity of your feelings about the issue on a scale of 0 to 10. This will help you measure your progress as you tap.

3. Create a Setup Statement

Develop a setup statement that acknowledges the problem and affirms your self-acceptance. For example, “Even though I feel overwhelmed right now, I deeply and completely accept myself.”

4. Tap on the Points

Use your fingertips to gently tap on the following points while repeating your setup statement:

  •  Side of the Hand (Karate chop point)
  •  Top of the Head
  •  Eyebrow
  •  Side of the Eye
  •  Under the Eye
  •  Under the Nose
  •  Chin
  •  Collarbone
  •  Under the Arm

5. Repeat and Reassess

After one round of tapping, take a deep breath and reassess the intensity of your feelings. Continue tapping until you notice a significant reduction in intensity.
